Our  Team

Vernice Rasmussen - Principal

Vernice has practiced law across Melbourne in settings ranging from a boutique suburban law firm, to volunteering her time in a community legal centre. In 2016 she came to work for AB Morison Conveyancing (then known as Sargeant Port Phillip), and is now heading up our legal branch as principal solicitor for AB Morison Law.

Vernice’s wealth of experience includes property law, commercial law, family law, probate law and estate planning. Her friendliness and empathy set her apart as a legal professional, and you will benefit from her quick responses and down to earth approach.

Vernice is a graduate from La Trobe University and completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the Australian National University. She was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria.

Outside of her legal practice, Vernice enjoys spending time with her young family, horse riding, and is an avid baker and foodie.

Stephen Fries - Senior Associate | Wills & Estates

Stephen Fries was admitted to practice law in 2014 by the Supreme Court of Victoria and since then he has accumulated extensive experience across Melbourne and Victoria working in Wills and estates while also going on to study a Master of Law majoring in Wills and estates.

Stephen earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Melbourne. His knowledge and experience include estate and business succession planning, Will drafting (including Testamentary Trust Wills), preparing Enduring Powers of Attorney and Appointments of Medical Treatment Decision Makers, applications for standard Grants of Probate and Letters of Administration, applications for Grants of Representation with informal or lost Wills, estate administration, and making and defending claims against estates.

If you are the executor of a Will, complications can arise where the Will is disputed, for example where a family member has been excluded by the deceased and believes they are entitled to assets left in the estate. In these emotionally fraught circumstances, having solid legal advice backed by years of experience and a compassionate approach can make a world of difference. As a Wills and estates expert, there are not many scenarios that Stephen has not encountered, and you can rest easy knowing that you have the support of a tried and true professional.

Stephen offers practical, grounded advice that is sensitive to your circumstances and easy to understand. You can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with knowing your estate is being handled by a consummate professional. In his downtime, Stephen enjoys relaxing with a good book, playing badminton, and spending time with family and friends.
